Alicante and its airport

Alicante is the capital city of the province Alicante. With over 300.000 habitants its the second largest city (after Valencia) on the Costa Blanca. Alicante is not that well known as a holiday destination, which is unfortunate, because the city has just the right mix of touristic attractions and the variation of the normal Spanish daily life.

With the Explanada España Alicante has a beautiful walking boulevard where the Ramblas in Barcelona could be jealous of. The beach of Alicante has been appointed as one of the best in the region, and Alicante also has an exiting nightlife.

Also, Alicante has one of the nicest climates of all the cities of europe, it nearly never rains in summer and even in winter the temperatures can be high enough to sit on an outside terras during the day.

Alicante has an airport (12 km outside the city). Actually, this airport is located in El Altet, a village just outside of Alicante.

It’s sad that tourist mostly see Alicante as a travel trough city, while it can be an fantastic end destination.
